If you are a parent, you’d have definitely experienced camp outings during the summer with your friends when you were a child. Children nowadays have more opportunities and activities when it comes to summer holidays, unlike what was in the past. Summer holidays are looked forward to each year, mainly because it gives the child the chance of interacting with new people, and also a good exercise for the new school term ahead.

Did you know that summer camps can be categorized into two sections? One is the day camp and the other is the overnight camp. What happens in the day camp is that the children or the campers are limited to a specific time during the day in which they are assigned different tasks and activities which are completed by the afternoon or evening. The overnight camp is much different from this. Campers who are a part of an overnight camp do not have a limited time for their activities but carry them out for a week or two which could possibly include a short backpacking trip.

Since the overnight camp lets the children have a longer stay at the camp, they are able to get involved in various training and adventurous activities, unlike the day camps. Some children who are fans of football, baseball, etc opt for the overnight camp that provides them the chance of training for different sports events such as beginner fly fishing and also get a marine environmental education. If your child fancies the wild life and loves adventure, get them involved with an overnight camp that provides adventure games and team building events.

Many summer camps, especially an overnight camp which has schedules that range from one to two weeks will usually offer food and lodging to the campers. In addition to these, if your child is attending an overnight camp, you can be assured that the child gets the security and individualized care with training from professional coaches and instructors.

A recognized overnight camp will generally have full time counselors allocated to each cabin. A cabin in an overnight camp will usually consist of a bunk bed, a toilet and a dining room. There are also camps that come with many recreational facilities such as a gym, tennis courts, theater’s; all situated indoors to give the best type of training to the camper.

For some, an overnight camp could be a great holiday. For some it can be the chance to meet new friends and to learn new things. Whatever the reason, studies show how children return to school bursting with energy after only a few weeks at camp.
